Texas & New Jersey Railroad

An Oral History

The Texas & New Jersey railroad was created out of my road trips back and forth to move my Mom-in-law around from her home in New Jersey to our home in Dallas. It was a grueling drive, and my wife and her Mom had come down on Amtrak once, but Amtrak didn’t allow pets (Mom-in-law had a Shih-Tzu) and Mom-in-law wouldn’t fly. These are my notes on the history of each line. Most of it is true. Anything that sounds like it was written by a man crying is true.

After the original maps and routes were completed, we were still driving places, and sometimes, we had people in tow. So, I started extending the virtual railroad. Eventually, we had terminals in D’Hanis, Texas, Houston, Texas, Galveston, Texas and Cedarville, Ohio, as well as the original terminals in Dallas, Texas and Flemington, New Jersey.
